From 31 March to 2 April 2008, the 6th International Fluid Power Conference (6th IFK) was held in Dresden under the conference theme:

"Fluid Power in Motion".

The IFK is one of the most renowed specialist conferences on Fluid Power and Motion Control in the world. It offers users, manufacturers and scientists a recognized forum for presentation and discussion of development trends, innovations in products and applications as well as for the exchange of experiences. The event's main intention is to advance the dialogue between manufacturers, users and research institutes.

The accompanying exhibition, with over 30 companies taking part, was a good place to get informed about the latest products, software and services in the field of Fluid Power as well as measurement and automation technology.

The 6th IFK in Dresden was a great success with more than 600 international participants. We had not only the pleasure to welcome participants from Europe but also from China, Japan, Korea, the USA and the United Arab Emirates.

On the first day, a workshop took place. Above all, it affered university members from Germany and abroad the chance to present the latest basic research. Lectures were given in the following 6 subject groups:

  1. Mobile Machinery

  2. Valves

  3. Stationary Machinery

  4. New Materials and Fluids

  5. Pumps

  6. Fundamentals of Fluid Power.

On both conference days, a total of 59 lectures were given in the following 6 subject complexes:

  1. Components and Systems for Energy Efficient Mobile Machinery

  2. Environmental Acceptability, Safety and Availability of Fluid Power Systems

  3. Components and Systems for Stationary Machinery

  4. Pneumatics in Automation

  5. New Fluid Power Solutions for Vehicle Technology

  6. Fundamentals of Fluid Power.

Each of the lecture complexes started with an overview lecture on the subject.

A cultural programme introduced Dresden's historical buildings, such as the Frauenkirche and the Grünes Gewölbe to the participants. During a boat trip and a visit to the Königstein fortress, they could experience the Saxon history and the Elbe valley.

A conference banquet at the Hotel Westin Bellevue in Dresden rounded off the 6th IFK.

On 3 and 4 April, excursions took our guests to the following important and innovative companies in the region:
